2017 Gardening Contest Rules and Entry Form

THE DEADLINE TO ENTER THE CONTEST IS AUGUST 1, 2017.

WHO CAN ENTER:

Amateur gardeners are invited to enter our annual Gardens of the Year contest to showcase the “Best Of ” gardens and garden projects across the Triangle. Those who are professional landscapers or who make a living gardening are not eligible to enter the contest.

The garden must be located in Triangle Gardener’s primary distribution area in one of these North Carolina counties: Wake, Durham, Orange, Lee, Johnston, Harnett, Chatham, Granville, Vance or Franklin. Only persons over the age of 18 years as of June 1, 2017 who reside in one of these counties and in a jurisdiction where the contest is lawful are eligible to enter. The writers and contractors of Triangle Gardener are not eligible to enter the contest.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:

• The garden or project in each category entered must have been created by non-professional gardeners only.

• Complete the entry form with your contact information and check the category of the entry. One category per form is allowed. For multiple categories, please complete additional forms.

• Provide a short summary (no more than 500 words) about your garden or project. Include your inspiration, unique features, design style, challenges and rewards, and additional information about your garden or project. A separate list of plants used is welcomed, but not required. A sketch of the garden design is optional, but welcomed.

• Provide four to eight photographs of your garden or garden project taken in 2017 for each category entered. If digital images, please send hi-res (300 dpi) JPEGS or TIFF files to: contest@trianglegardener.com. Please label the back of all photographs or the file names of the digital images with your name and contest category. An example of the labeling is B. Smith/Curb Appeal.

SELECTING THE WINNERS:

Our judges will select a winner in each category based on the design, unique features for the category, plants used, creativity, originality, and overall beauty of the garden or project. Each winner will receive a $50 gift card plus an award.

There is no fee to enter this annual contest. Send entry materials by mail to:
